Rick Lotter on drums provides subtle and tactful accents, while Bootza's bass lines are fluidly independent and melodically expressive. Buehler's style is assured yet mildly unpredictable--his runs go off on improvisational tangents that never stray too far from the thematic structure. Despite its calming properties, there is no shortage of technically impressive work on Acoustic Impressions. Each member of the trio has plenty of room to stretch out and display exceptional chops on standards by Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, and others.

This is a great piano jazz CD. The first song Zelao is an upbeat Bossa Nova with great style and smooth playing by Dave Buehler, Rick Lotter, & Svetozar Bootza Necak. Track 3, Dolphin Dance is a nice light swing with beautiful piano work and a great bass solo. Track 4, Black Orpheus, is my favorite. I've always liked this number and Dave takes it to a new level. These performances are well worth checking out.
